Morning Musume’s upcoming single “Nanchatte Renai” is also the 40th single from the group. To celebrate, there will be a special commemorative edition that has a c/w track unique to that version. Aside from that, the Limited editions A & B both come with a DVD, and the first press of all versions comes with a serial numbered card with a chance to attend a live Morning Musume event.

Berryz Kobo, Wonderful Hearts tour, January 2009.

Just when you think these ensembles can’t get any better, up crops somethiing like Berryz Kobo’snewest single now on DohhhUp!

I don’t even know what its name is (methinks it’s called “Rival” but I can’t be sure), nor what the song is even about. But it has such a beautiful, upbeat, smooth, harmonic, happy retro ’60s feel (much like Buono!’s ”Rottara Rottara”). Here it is:

The outfits are sensational, and the members all have dynamite new haircuts. It’s just joy on a stick. That’s all I can really say about this. I’m looping it forever on whatever players or computers I can get my hands on!

It’s no wonder that blogger and J-pop expert Celestia, in a recent review of the Elder Club graduation concert that occurred on Jan. 31-Feb. 1, said that Berryz Kobo was getting better than flagship Morning Musume. I would take it a step further and say that Berryz Kobo is the best in the world right now, surpassing even °C-ute in my mind.

°C-ute, at the Elder Club graduation concert, January 2009, isn’t the same sans Kanna.

Why? Because, finally, Berryz is catching the more upbeat of Tsunku♂’s most recent song creations and staying away from those mediocre ballads (costuming has been upgraded, too, in a big way). Meanwhile, °C-ute (Kanna) and Morning Musume (Aika) are fighting injury problems. Further, Momoko and Miyabi of Berryz are wreaking havoc as two-thirds of the smash-hit trip Buono! (Suzuki of °C-ute making up the third segment of that superb band).

According to Yaguchi Mari’s blog, Morning Musume’s latest single Shouganai Yume Oibito has ranked at No.1 in the Oricon Weekly Charts! The first time since 2006 and Aruiteru!

Sales figures haven’t been released just yet though indications are pointing to quite low sales.

Today marks the official release of C-ute’s latest single BYE BYE BYE! I’ll show you the video,  then I’ll show my comments!

Well, here we go!

The song is actually pretty cool! I love the technicality….. But here comes the complaints….

As a lot of blogs mention, there’s more choreography in the ‘BYE BYE BYE’ in the BG rather than thier dance moves. I think the moves are quite cool, though. They’re plain, but suit the song.

The costumes? Saki looks different from the rest, as she’s the only one with trousers, but I think everyone looks cool. Mai and Erika look awesome, I like their costume’s the best.

The close-ups look a bit out of place, don’t you think?
